True Blue Watersports will be offering a PADI Public Safety Diver Course, August 14, 15, and 16 from 8 am – 4 pm, taught be Ryan Mareno. The PADI Public Safety Diver Course goals are:
· familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards of public safety diving
· establishes a solid public safety diving foundation and includes basic rescue skills (both surface and underwater)
· knot tying
· arc search techniques
· victim recovery
· tender responsibilities
· communications and rescue techniques for a distressed public safety diver
Prerequisites to take the course:
1. At least 18 years old
2. Must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and a PADI Rescue Diver
3. Must have a physician sign off stating he/she finds no medical conditions incompatible with diving.
$575 per diver
Includes: PADI Public Safety Diver Course Textbook, certification card, total of 24 hours of instruction. Each diver needs their own dive equipment and tanks.
Ryan Mareno is a Sergeant with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office in Lake Charles, Louisiana in the Marine Enforcement Division. He has over 20 year in law enforcement and public safety diving and is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, PADI Public Safety Diver Instructor, and authored the first PADI approved Public Safety Industrial Helmet Course to allow Public Safety teams to use commercial dive helmets. Ryan is also an experienced weapons armorer, Less Lethal Instructor, and DWI/Field Sobriety Instructor.

PADI Public Safety Diver Surface Support Specialist Course (3 days) - is typically conducted in conjunction with the Public Safety Diver course but can be taken as a stand-alone course for those who are not scuba certified. The goal of the Surface Support Specialist Course is to introduce and familiarize the student with the use of special procedures, equipment, scene handling, communication procedures, basic public safety diving search and rescue techniques, emergency procedures and documentation requirements.
PADI Underwater Criminal Investigator Course (4 days) - this course gives you hands-on training as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities you'll need to succeed as a professional underwater criminal investigator.
