Be a True Blue Swimmer!

True Blue Watersports is proud to offer swim instruction for individuals 6 months to adulthood. Our heated indoor pool allows for comfort, safety, and most importantly fun. True Blue offers a full aquatics curriculum ranging from swim lessons, stroke school after school, snorkelling lessons, and even scuba diving training. True Blue’s aquatic staff aims to reduce drowning, safe lives, and help others appreciate the underwater world.

True Blue teaches swim lessons year-round in our 50' indoor, heated pool.  Rain or shine, regardless of the season, True Blue is ready to inspire your love of water.

Private Swim Lessons

$135 for five 30 minute sessions

The curriculum True Blue Watersports has adopted is the nationally recognized swim program, Starfish Aquatics Institute. Starfish Aquatics Institute has joined with the Human Kinetics, the information leader in physical activity and health and has program approval through USA Swimming and YMCA of USA. The Starfish Swimming Program is based on the following core beliefs:
  • A relationship exists between instructor behaviors and student performance.
  • Students learn in different ways and have different readiness levels.
  • The focus should be on ability, not disability, and achievement, not errors.
  • Multiple methods of instruction, including “learning by doing,” results in higher levels of student performance.
  • Effective instructor methods can be learned and developed.

The Starfish Swimming curriculum consists of courses containing age-appropriate activities that focus on development of core swimming competencies. Core courses include:
  • StarBabies
  • Starfish Swim School
  • Starfish Stroke School
  • Starfun and Fitness

The True Blue Staff are certified swim trainers through the Starfish Aquatic Institute. They are also certified Water Safety Instructors with training in First/Aid and CPR. Every six weeks, our staff attends safety meetings so we can adhere to our motto:

The True Blue Aquatic Program is owned and managed by Cher Walker. Cher has a Master's Degree in Science: Exercise Physiology from McNeese State University, an elementary teaching certificate, and a degree in Mass Communication from the University of New Orleans.

Her accomplishments include:
